The IEEE Women in Photonics initiative has established a travel grants program to encourage early career participation from women members at the IEEE Summer Topicals Conference (SUM 2019). The grant funds within this program are intended to be used for travel, lodging expenses and registration. Conference will take place in Ft. Lauderdale, FL USA.
An applicant should be:
- An woman student or in early career, i.e. undergrad, graduate, post-doc, etc., and/or volunteer for the IEEE Women in Photonics program. Men and gender minorities may also apply if they are active volunteers supporting the IEEE Women in Photonics initiative.
- An IEEE Photonics Society Member.
- Sponsored by an advisor, professor, mentor or direct supervisor.
The IEEE Photonics Society will notify recipients via email more than 4 weeks prior to the conference with the grant results. Submitting a paper to SUM 2019 is not required and there isn’t a limit to how many student chapter volunteers can apply from one chapter. However, each application requires individual responses.
